Female Impersonator and Drag Events in Palm Springs
Party Like a Queen
By Kevin Perry
Get fierce, get frisky, and get fed, because these “ladies” are about to rule your Palm Springs experience! From the hazy hangover of a mid-morning meal to the gender-BENDER of a karaoke cocktail cabaret, this drag itinerary has you covered… but just barely – skin is in, after all.
BRUNCH: Rio Azul
As they say, you can’t make an omelet without breaking some ovaries (they actually don’t say that, but just go with it), so grab a HIMosa! The Desert Divas Drag Brunch is ideal for anyone who prefers their women with a side of sausage… sausage link not Sausage Patty (she crazy). Your hostess with the moistest – don’t ask – is Vanity Halston, and she’s quick with a flaming baton, just in case your meal gets cold. Reserve your seats early, because this show sells out fast!
KARAOKE: RetroRoom Lounge
Grab your friends, grab yourself (ooh!), and grab the mic, because this lively lounge offers karaoke every day of the week! Untuck on Tuesdays, wine down on Wednesdays, but be sure to drag yourself to the Queen of all Bingo bashes, happening Saturdays after 3pm (so as not to compete with the other numerical naughtiness in town).
CABARET: Oscar’s Café & Bar
While it’s never polite to divulge a lady’s age, we will mention that Oscar’s Cabaret boasts the longest Palm Springs track record this side of The Follies – that’s a raucous (raunchy) reputation, indeed! Starlet James Haake is aamaazing in the headlining role, cementing his reputation as the Gypsy Rose Lee of the Inland Empire. Everything’s coming up Oscar’s!
STAR GAZING: Copa Palm Springs
Pucker up for Lipstick Thursdays at Copa, starring Bella da Ball. You may recognize her from her star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame, but don’t tread on da Ball! She’s bringing her talent, attitude, and superstar friends to this variety show extravaganza. Get fancy with Sassy Ross and Marina Mac, get groovy with Keisha D and Dion Khan, and get trashed/trashy with Jersey Shore. Why wait for weekend kisses when you can slather on Lipstick Thursdays?
DINNER AND A(NOTHER) SHOW: The Purple Room Supper Club
History and herstory collide in this Rat Pack throwback, where nothing is sacred and everything is just so Palm Springs. Decadent dinners, lavish interior design, and drag shows that evoke the excess of the 60’s; they’re all served up fresh and fabulously purple. Michael Holmes’ paean to classic Hollywood envelopes you in glitz, glamour, and girls, girls, boy-girls!
