I can’t think of anything more anxiety-inducing than driving your family around a town you hardly know. Enter thePalm Springs BUZZ, Palm Springs’ hippest new form of public transportation. The trolley hits 30 stops in a loop around downtown Palm Springs. The best part: it’s FREE!

The BUZZ is also convenient. Urban explorers don’t have to wait around long before getting to the next destination because trolleys come by each stop every 15 minutes.

Here’s a list of the top stops for families to make on the Palm Springs BUZZ during a long weekend in Palm Springs. Now, get trekking!

Stop #8: The meat and potatoes of downtown starts here. Get off at this stop and start walking south. You’ll want to make sure your family hits Lappert’s Ice Cream Shop immediately to pick up a cool sweet treat to enjoy while continuing your walk along the Palm Springs Strip.

Stop # 9: Join a Walking Tour of downtown Palm Springs at the corner of Arenas and Palm Canyon Drive.

Special Thursday Night Stops: From 4:30-11pm on Thursdays, the BUZZ route changes slightly to accommodate the downtown Villagefest Street Fair, which is a must if you’re here. Because of the route change, this is also the only night the BUZZ provides curbside delivery to the Palm Springs Art Museum. From 4-8pm, enjoy free museum admission for everyone during their Free Thursday Nights. Like how that works?

Stop #12: Get off here, at the southern point of the Palm Springs Strip, and start heading north for restaurants, shopping, and people watching.

Stop #16: If you’re staying at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club with the family, consider yourself lucky. This is where your day’s BUZZ adventure begins and ends.

Stop #25: Visit Stewart Galleries and walk through several filled-to-the-brim rooms of cool artwork and antiques, including old model planes and toys. Then, head over to Bike Palm Springs Rentals & Tours and continue your urban exploration on two wheels.

The BUZZ runs from Thursday to Sunday, 11 am to 1 am. A full-size map of the BUZZ route is available on their website. Remember to pick up your BUZZ Perk Card to receive more savings from the places you visit on the BUZZ while you’re on your family vacation. Happy exploring!
