Owner Tara Lazar a Palm Springs Native and head chef of Cheeky’s has been featured in countless articles and food blogs for her unique, thoughtful and innovative restaurant. After leaving a job as a stock trader in San Francisco Lazar opened Cheeky's because of her love of food and cooking. She transformed a former bookstore into a very successful, airy, 30-seat breakfast and lunch spot. Now two and a half years later Lazar and Cheeky’s have become the toast (pun intended) of Palm Springs!
Tara has been quoted saying that breakfast is her favorite meal of the day, true but pizza and cocktails are a close second! After the constant urging from her loyal customer base for an evening spot and her and husband Marco Rossetti’s love of authentic Italian pizza and hand crafted cocktails comes Birba!
Birba (Pronounced "Beerba") which means "Scoundrel" or "Rascal" in Italian comes from a childhood nick name given to Rossetti by his Grandmother.
Birba will feature wood fired pizza, some unique salad choices, "an outhouse rotisserie" and the ever important hand crafted cocktail. These will all be served with the same fresh and local ingredients that cheekys is now famous for.
Birba which has been in the works for the past year and a half has been built from the ground up in the adjacent lot next to Cheeky’s outdoor patio. The building a Danish inspired structure, mostly made up of huge sliding glass doors will have indoor and outdoor-garden seating, a beautiful Carrera marble bar and Live DJ’s on the weekends.
Birba will be open six days a week (Closed on Tuesdays) Sunday-Thursday 4pm-11pm and Friday and Saturdays 4pm-2am and will be serving food late!
