Splash House: Bringing the music festival poolside
Move over, Coachella - Splash House is here in August
By Kevin Perry
Why enjoy tunes BY the pool when you can enjoy them IN the pool? It’s the ultimate Palm Springs innovation: an entire music festival organized around YOUR leisure schedule. Sip your exotic drink, cavort with your friends (exotic or not), and swim along with the beat. Splash House boasts such eclectic talents as Yolanda be Cool, Justin Martin, Dusky, Motez, Kidswaste, and Detroit Swindle, just to name a funky few.
Let’s face it: Coachella is a distant memory (if you can actually remember it at all) and it’s hot as Beyoncé out in those polo fields! How much (more) would you have paid to walk two steps from your dancing position to dive into a chilled reservoir of scantily clad partygoers? Oh, and pool water.
Speaking of the drain event, Splash House spills over into three local resorts. The Riviera’s sparkling blue oases shimmer seductively around the grounds, so there’s not a dry seat in the house. The Saguaro’s pool is flanked by a neon pastel wonderland of mid-century modernity to color your EDM experience with just the right visuals. And The Renaissance is nestled comfortably in the shade of the San Jacinto foothills, giving it a similar backdrop to that other local music festival.
But which pool will you pick? There’s no need to choose just one because a Splash House general admission pass includes shuttles to all three participating venues.
And if those don’t wear down your dancing shoes, or flip-flops as the case may be, the after-hours party rages on at the Palm Springs Air Museum (separate ticket required). Spread your well-tanned wings and fly around the 86,000 square foot space, festooned with legendary aircraft specimens. Marvel at the flying machines surrounding you as your Palm Springs weekend reaches a crescendo of cool.
The pool party has infused your soul. Splash on…
